Community Newsletter - August 2024
Dear community member
August has been a big month for Parramatta.
With community events, important openings and other exciting news, I’ve been hard at work advocating for Parramatta.
With such a fast-growing, vibrant city, it’s important to have a state government that listens. Below is a snapshot of the past month.

Parramatta Police Station Officially Open! Parramatta Police Area Command has a shiny new police station on the same site they've called home for over 130 years!
A big part of keeping our community safe is making sure we have the best facilities to support our police officers. This new police station is filled with cutting-edge technology that will enable our local police to respond even more effectively to the community they serve.
At the official opening I met many of the 180 police officers based at the Parramatta Station and thanked them for their serving to our community. |

Northwest Renters Forum It was great to attend the Northwest Renters Forum to listen to local renters about their experiences as renters and talk about the Minns Labor Government’s proposed rental reforms.
Our rental reforms include the implementation of a Portable Bonds Scheme, ending No-Grounds Evictions for both periodic and fixed term leases, making it easier to have pets in rentals and stopping renters being charged for background checks. |

NOW OPEN - Return and Earn Silverwater! Located at 196 Silverwater Road, the new Return and Earn depot is open for business. It’s a great place to recycle your plastic and glass bottle while also earning some extra cash.
Parramatta locals are already recycling more than 100 million bottles and cans in local facilities. Click to find your local Return and Earn here. |

Homelessness Week 2024 Parramatta Mission hosts Parramatta Community Services Hubs twice a month to provide a “one-stop-shop” of services. By working together, the Government and non-government sectors are able to increase connections to ensure people are linked with the most appropriate service at the right time.
During Homelessness Week, 5 - 11 August, I dropped by to chat to the service providers and those seeking assistance.
Thank you to Parramatta Mission and everyone involved in making their services more accessible to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. |
